Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about our virtual menopause care, hormone therapy, and how appointments work.
Bioidentical hormones are plant-derived and structurally identical to the hormones your body naturally produces. BHRT is used to treat symptoms of perimenopause and menopause by restoring hormone levels to a range where you feel your best. Treatment is personalized based on your symptoms and lab results.
When prescribed by a trained provider and monitored with lab work, bioidentical HRT is considered safe and effective for most women. The 2002 Women’s Health Initiative study was widely misreported. Modern evidence supports HRT, particularly when started within 10 years of menopause onset. Your provider will discuss risks and benefits specific to your health history.
Bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure as your body’s own hormones. Synthetic hormones have a different structure, which is why some women experience more side effects. Bioidentical hormones can also be customized and compounded to match your specific needs.
